I have recently made some changes on the website. πΈ
From a look and feel standpoint, there aren't that many, although I plan to implement a light/dark mode soon. π
What I am most happy about is that I have added a lot of content to the website.
This content, hopefully, it will be useful for you, and I hope you will enjoy it.
some of the changes π§ Β are:
- Changing from Contentful CMS to Markdown
- Introduction of Educational Assets
- Restructured About page
- Mail Lite integration
- More regular posts
Changing from Contentful CMS to Markdown β¬οΈ
I was trying a few different things with contentful CMS for my personal blog, but I was always getting errors. This led to some frustration π« Β and I decided to change to Markdown. In a way I am happy I did as I had never used Markdown before besides in GitHub and GitLab. The funny thing is I ended up resolving the issue later on, but only because I tried MArkdown! Life is indeed ironic π€·ββοΈ. Anyway, I continue to use Contentful CMS in my website, it is indeed a fantastic tool and so far I couldn't find any more limitations. With Markdown I can do everything from any Google Doc and then just need to drag-and-drop it into my website folder and boom π₯Β , I have a new blog! There is even a cool markdown plugin for VS code that gives you a cool preview. Pretty cool as well. Since I am not planning to do any guest blogs for now it will be enough. What I might do in the future is to serve this Markdown from a CMS, just to keep it all in the cloud and simpler to manage. I will probably use Sanity for that later, which is a great tool for managing content.
Educational Assets π
If you are into academia I have added a section where I will keep updating with scholar resources on Marketing and business related topics. I am doing it for three βοΈ Β reasons:
- I am a Marketing professional and I am interested in sharing my knowledge with others.
- It is also a way to have it handy should I ever need to refer to it.
- To have more written content on my website, Mr. Google πΒ likes this stuff
These will be updated regularly(ish), I think the worst part is getting started. Once it becomes a habit it is easier to keep the content rolling.
These assets can be found here and I will be adding more to it as time goes by.
I am planning to introduce another menu on the Nav bar but I am still debating it. For now it sits deep on the bottom of the page, after some heatmaps π₯Β from Microsoft Clarity I will see if it is worth adding its own menu section.
Restructured About page π¨
This page had a massive amount of content added, now it is a bit more structured. There are still some bugs to fine tune but in general, I am happy with it. I might add an easter egg to it later on. π₯
Mail Lite integration π¬
There is now a Mail Lite integration on the website. This is a great way to keep in touch with me and to get in touch with me, having it all automated. Still thinking if I should also change my email pop up to a Mail Lite pop up. It currently uses FormSpree but I am thinking of using Mail Lite for it as well. Well, if it is not broken don't fix it... Let's see how it goes, maybe I'll add it to the TODO list π.
More regular posts π
Since I need to practice my writing skills I have added a few more regular posts on the website to my calendar π .. As a marketer and content creator I am always looking for ways to improve my content and skills. On top of that, google does enjoy fresh content being posted regularly. This content will be not just development but also marketing and hiking related. I am so thrilled by it that I even added filtering system to the blog section. Expect a lot of content being rolled out soon π Β π€π» I might add pagination later! One more for the TODO list π.
